Braces Cost in Bangalore: Metal, Ceramic and Clear Aligners Compared
Orthodontic quotes in Bangalore are difficult to compare because the thing being priced varies. Some clinics quote the appliance, some quote per arch, some quote the treatment but bill adjustments separately. And almost nobody mentions retainers until the braces come off.
So here is what each option costs at our BTM Layout and JP Nagar clinics, what is inside that number. And the questions worth asking anywhere else you are quoted.
The short answer: At Dentick, metal braces cost ₹25,000 to ₹45,000 and ceramic braces ₹35,000 to ₹60,000 for the appliance and course of treatment. Clear aligners start at ₹60,000. Adjustment visits and retainers are charged separately — retainers are ₹3,000 to ₹8,000 — and every item is itemised in your written plan.
Braces ₹25,000 – ₹80,000 depending on the type
Metal braces run ₹25,000 to ₹45,000 for the appliance and course of treatment. Stainless steel brackets bonded to the teeth with a wire through them — the oldest approach still in use, and still the most capable.
They handle the widest range of tooth movement, including severe crowding, rotations and bite corrections that aligners struggle with. And they work continuously because you cannot take them out. That last point is why they often finish faster than aligners for comparable cases. The visible bracket is the entire trade-off. If appearance is not your main concern, metal braces give you the most orthodontic capability per rupee available. And that has not changed despite everything newer that has arrived since.
Ceramic costs more and shows far less
Ceramic braces use tooth-coloured brackets instead of steel. From conversational distance they are considerably less obvious than most people expect — the wire is visible on close inspection, the brackets much less so.
They cost more than metal, and the current price is on the price list published on this site. Two practical points nobody mentions at the quoting stage: ceramic brackets are more brittle than steel and occasionally break, which adds a repair visit. And the clear elastic ties can pick up stain from turmeric, coffee and smoking between adjustments. They are changed at every visit, so it is temporary. But if your diet is heavily coloured you will notice it. For adults who want fixed braces without the metal look, they remain the sensible middle option.
Clear aligners ₹60,000 – ₹250,000
Clear aligners start at ₹60,000, with Invisalign from ₹80,000 — a series of removable transparent trays, each moving the teeth a fraction, changed every one to two weeks.
The premium over fixed braces buys near-invisibility and removability. You take them out to eat, so nothing is off-limits, and cleaning your teeth is unchanged. What you are agreeing to in return is discipline: they need 20 to 22 hours of wear a day. And treatment that runs slowly is almost always a wear-time problem rather than a planning one. They also cannot do everything braces can — significant rotations, large vertical movements and some bite corrections still need fixed appliances, or a hybrid of both.
Adjustments and retainers are priced separately
The figures above are for the appliance and the course of treatment. Adjustment visits and retainers are charged separately. And we would rather state that plainly than let you discover it at the end.
Retainers are ₹3,000 to ₹8,000 and they are not optional — teeth relapse towards their original position without them. So budget for them at the planning stage rather than treating them as an afterthought. Orthodontics also runs 12 to 24 months with a visit every four to six weeks, which is twelve to twenty appointments. Ask us, or any clinic, exactly which of those items sit inside the headline number and which do not. A quote that looks ₹8,000 cheaper often is not. And the only way to compare two quotes honestly is item by item. Everything appears in your written plan before treatment begins.
Written plan and cost before you start
You get the full treatment plan and the total cost in writing before the first bracket is bonded — appliance, duration, number of visits, retainers. And any extractions or additional procedures the plan requires.
If your case needs extractions to create space, or a minor procedure before treatment starts, that appears in the written plan with its own cost rather than arriving three months in. EMI is available across the treatment period, which for orthodontics is often the deciding factor since the treatment is long enough for staged payment to make sense. And if a cheaper appliance would achieve your result, we will tell you — recommending aligners to somebody whose case is straightforward metal-brace work is not a service we are interested in providing.

If you are relaxed about the look, put the difference towards nothing at all — metal works.
Do braces prices include retainers?

How long do braces take?
Twelve to twenty-four months for most cases, with mild crowding sometimes finishing in six to nine. Duration is set by how far the teeth need to move and how the biology responds, not by age — adults move at broadly the same rate as teenagers. We give you an expected range in the written plan and review it as treatment progresses.
Can I pay for braces in instalments?
Yes. EMI is available and orthodontics is the treatment where it makes most sense, since payment can be spread across the treatment period rather than paid upfront. Discuss it at the planning consultation rather than at the end — it is easier to structure before treatment begins.
Why are braces cheaper at some Bangalore clinics?
Usually because adjustments, retainers, extractions or records are billed separately, or because the quote covers one arch rather than both. Orthodontics runs twelve to twenty-four months with a visit every four to six weeks. So twelve to twenty appointments billed separately turns a lower headline figure into a higher total. Ask three questions anywhere you are quoted: does this include every adjustment, does it include retainers. And is it for both arches.
Do I need both arches treated?
Usually yes. Teeth meet in pairs, so straightening only the upper arch while leaving the lower untouched frequently produces a bite that does not work properly, even if the front teeth look better. Single-arch treatment is legitimate in a narrow set of cases. And where yours is one of them we will say so and price it accordingly. Where it is not, doing half the job to save money produces a result you may need to redo.
What are self-ligating braces and are they worth it?
They use a built-in clip instead of elastic ties to hold the wire. So nothing needs changing at each visit and there are no elastics to stain. Claims of dramatically faster treatment are not well supported by evidence. But they are easier to keep clean and adjustment appointments are quicker. Damon is the system we use. Will I need teeth extracted for braces?
Sometimes, where crowding is severe enough that there is no room to align the teeth without creating space. It is a decision made from records — X-rays, photographs and models — rather than by eye. And it is set out in the written plan with its own cost before treatment begins. Expansion and other space-creating techniques can avoid extractions in some cases. Forcing that where it is not appropriate produces an unstable result that relapses.
How much do retainers cost if I lose one?
A replacement retainer costs a fraction of the original treatment, and the figure is on the published price list. Losing one is common — the most frequent place they end up is wrapped in a napkin at a restaurant. Come back promptly rather than waiting, because teeth begin drifting within weeks. And a replacement made after months of drift may no longer fit the position you paid for.
Is orthodontic treatment covered by insurance in India?
Very rarely. Most Indian health policies exclude dental treatment entirely unless it follows an accident, and orthodontics is classified as elective. Some corporate group policies carry a limited dental benefit worth checking. We provide fully itemised invoices for any claim you wish to submit. And EMI is available across the treatment period, which for most patients is the more practical route.
Can I start braces and pay as I go?
Effectively, yes — EMI spreads payment across the treatment period rather than requiring it upfront, which for a two-year treatment matches cost to time reasonably well. Raise it at the planning consultation rather than at the end. What we would not recommend is starting treatment without a funding plan. Because orthodontics stopped halfway leaves teeth mid-movement, which is often worse than where you started.
