Tooth Extraction in Bengaluru — Simple & Surgical
When a tooth cannot be saved, comfortable and safe extraction is the next step. Dentick Dental Care performs simple extractions, surgical extractions, and wisdom tooth removal with laser-assisted healing.
Extraction Procedures at Dentick
Dr. Divyashree prioritises saving natural teeth — extraction is only recommended when genuinely necessary.
Simple Extraction
For teeth that are visible and accessible. Performed under local anaesthetic with minimal discomfort. Most simple extractions take under 15 minutes and patients return to normal activity the same day.
Surgical Extraction
For broken teeth, impacted teeth, or roots that are difficult to access. Involves a small incision in the gum. Performed under local anaesthetic, with optional sedation for anxious patients.
Wisdom Tooth Removal
Impacted or partially erupted wisdom teeth (third molars) that cause pain, infection, or crowding are best removed early. We assess with an OPG X-ray and perform the extraction with minimal trauma.
Laser-Assisted Healing
After extraction, our Novolase Diode Laser is applied to the socket to reduce inflammation, accelerate tissue healing, and minimise post-operative pain and swelling.
What to Do After Tooth Extraction
Following these instructions reduces your recovery time and the risk of complications.
-
1
First 24 Hours
Bite gently on the gauze pad for 30–45 minutes. Avoid spitting, rinsing forcefully, using a straw, smoking, or consuming hot liquids. This protects the blood clot that forms in the extraction socket.
-
2
Pain Management
Take prescribed pain relief as directed. Some swelling and discomfort for 2–3 days is completely normal. An ice pack applied to the cheek for 10 minutes on, 10 minutes off for the first few hours helps.
-
3
Diet After Extraction
Soft foods — yogurt, idli, dal, mashed vegetables, banana — for the first 2–3 days. Avoid hard, crunchy, spicy, or chewy foods. Chew on the opposite side of the mouth.
-
4
Oral Hygiene
Continue brushing your other teeth normally. From day 2, rinse gently with warm salt water 3–4 times daily, especially after eating. Do not use mouthwash with alcohol for the first week.

Tooth Extraction — Common Questions
For the first 48–72 hours, stick to soft, cool foods: curd/yogurt, mashed rice, soup (warm, not hot), banana, applesauce, soft idli, and scrambled eggs. Avoid anything hard, crunchy, spicy, or very hot until the socket has healed — typically 7–10 days.
Mild to moderate discomfort for 2–3 days is normal. Pain should progressively reduce each day. If pain suddenly worsens around day 3–4, contact us — this may indicate dry socket, which is easily treated.
Yes, but avoid the extraction site for the first 24 hours. From day 2 onward, brush gently around the area and rinse with warm salt water. Do not poke or disturb the clot.
Most patients return to a normal soft diet by day 5–7 and a full diet by 10–14 days, depending on the complexity of the extraction. We will give you specific guidance based on your case.
For most teeth (other than wisdom teeth), replacement is strongly recommended to prevent neighbouring teeth from shifting and to maintain jaw bone density. Options include dental implants, bridges, or dentures — we will discuss what suits you best.
Dry socket affects roughly 2–5% of routine extractions but is more common after wisdom tooth removal. It is not dangerous, but it is genuinely painful — the fix is a quick in-clinic visit where we clean the socket and place a medicated dressing, which usually brings noticeable relief within a day.
