How Your Dental Implant Works
From consultation to permanent crown — a step-by-step overview.
-
1
Consultation & CBCT 3D Scan
We assess your bone density and jaw anatomy using a CBCT 3D scan (done at Oral D Diagnostic Centre, Bengaluru, billed separately). This gives us a precise, computer-generated plan before a single incision is made.
-
2
Implant Placement
The titanium implant post is placed into the jawbone under local anaesthesia. Most patients describe the procedure as considerably more comfortable than they expected.
-
3
Osseointegration (3–6 months)
The implant bonds with your jawbone over 3–6 months. During this time you can eat normally with a temporary restoration if needed.
-
4
Crown Fitting
Once the implant has integrated, a custom ceramic or zirconia crown is placed — matching the shape, size, and shade of your natural teeth.
-
5
Aftercare & Long-term Maintenance
Implants are maintained exactly like natural teeth — brush, floss, and attend regular checkups. With proper care they can last a lifetime.

Common Questions About Dental Implants
Implants at Dentick Dental Care cost ₹35,000–40,000 for a regular system and ₹40,000–45,000 for an imported system per implant. The final crown is included. CBCT scanning (done externally at Oral D Diagnostic Centre) is billed separately. EMI is available.
Yes — CBCT 3D imaging is essential for safe, precise implant planning. It shows us the exact bone volume, density, and the location of nerves and sinuses, which is critical for computer-guided placement. The scan is done at Oral D Diagnostic Centre and billed by them directly.
Implants are the only tooth replacement option that integrates with your jawbone, preventing bone loss. Unlike bridges, they do not require grinding down adjacent healthy teeth. Unlike dentures, they are permanently fixed and feel completely natural. They are the gold standard for tooth replacement.
The overall process typically takes 4–8 months: consultation and CBCT scan, implant placement, a 3–6 month osseointegration period, and then crown fitting. The actual chair time at each visit is relatively short.
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia — most patients are surprised by how comfortable it is. You may experience mild soreness for a few days after placement, which is well managed with prescribed pain relief.
With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, implants can last decades — many patients keep theirs for life. The crown on top may need replacement after 15–20 years of normal wear, but the titanium implant itself rarely needs to be touched once it has fused with the bone.
There is no upper age limit — implants are routinely placed in patients in their 70s and 80s as long as they are in reasonably good general health and have adequate bone. The main requirement is finished jaw growth, which is why implants are generally not placed in teenagers still developing.
