Sensitive Teeth Treatment in Bengaluru | Dentick Dental Care
Sharp pain from hot, cold, sweet, or acidic foods is not something you should live with. At Dentick we diagnose why your teeth are sensitive and treat the root cause — not just the symptom.
Why Are My Teeth Sensitive?
Sensitivity always has a cause — finding it is the first step to fixing it.
Enamel Erosion
Acidic food and drinks, acid reflux, and excessive brushing wear away enamel. When enamel thins, the dentinal tubules connecting to the nerve are closer to the surface — causing sensitivity to temperature and touch.
Gum Recession
When gums recede, the root surface is exposed. Root surfaces lack enamel protection, making them extremely sensitive. Gum disease, aggressive brushing, or frenum pull can all cause recession.
Cracked Teeth
A hairline crack in a tooth allows temperature changes to reach the pulp directly. Sensitivity that is sharp, brief, and triggered by biting at a specific angle often indicates a cracked cusp.
Post-Dental Treatment
New fillings, recent scaling, whitening, or crown preparation can cause temporary sensitivity. This is expected and usually resolves within a few weeks.
How We Treat Sensitive Teeth at Dentick
-
1
Comprehensive Assessment
We examine all possible causes — gum health, enamel wear patterns, bite, cracks, and existing restorations. Sensitivity is a symptom, not a diagnosis. We find the cause.
-
2
Fluoride Varnish Therapy
Professional fluoride varnish occludes dentinal tubules, significantly reducing sensitivity within days. Multiple applications may be needed for persistent cases.
-
3
Desensitising Bonding
A thin layer of bonding resin is applied to exposed root surfaces or eroded enamel to seal dentinal tubules. Immediate and long-lasting sensitivity relief for exposed root sensitivity.
-
4
Laser Desensitisation
The Novolase Diode Laser can be used to occlude exposed tubules through thermal effect. Particularly effective for post-whitening sensitivity and isolated areas of hypersensitivity.
-
5
Gum Disease Treatment
When recession is caused by gum disease, treating the disease with laser-assisted therapy arrests further recession and can allow partial gum reattachment over time.
Sudden onset of cold sensitivity usually indicates enamel loss, a new cavity, a hairline crack, or recent gum recession. If it is severe or persistent (lasting more than a few seconds), see a dentist — do not wait for it to get worse.
Desensitising toothpastes (with potassium nitrate or stannous fluoride) reduce sensitivity over 4–8 weeks of consistent use. They work by blocking dentinal tubules. However, they treat the symptom, not the cause — a dental assessment is still necessary.
Sensitivity to hot that lingers for 30+ seconds after the stimulus is removed, spontaneous toothache at night, or constant throbbing pain may indicate pulpitis — early pulp inflammation. At this stage, a root canal may be needed. See us promptly if you experience these symptoms.
Yes — grinding (bruxism) wears away protective enamel over time, exposing the more sensitive dentin underneath. If grinding is contributing to your sensitivity, treating it usually means combining desensitising treatment with a custom night guard to stop further wear.
